Best practice ⭐️ First sendings and segmentation

When you first start using WhatsApp, your phone number is unknown to Meta.

You must therefore follow some rules to prove your identity before you can really start using WhatsApp to its full potential.

This is the warm-up phase. Your account will gradually be validated by Meta, and you will no longer need to follow these rules.

Best practice

  • Target a segment of engaged customers for your first campaign. This will ensure that your first campaign generates engagement, showing WhatsApp that you are a high-quality account.
  • Send a campaign to a limited list of opt-ins.
    • For example, you can send a campaign to your loyal customers announcing a new WhatsApp channel.
  • Include an unsubscription button. This prevents some customers from blocking your number and lowering your rating.
  • Launch automations.
    • Automations as abandoned cart start regular conversations. This increases your account rating, which is very beneficial at first.

⚠️ Don't:

  • Send a message to your full base without an unsubscription button.

⭐️ First sendings and segmentation

In order to grow you opt-ins base and warm-up your account, we recommend you to send a first campaign spread over several days.

Campaign format

Follow the instructions above to boost the quality of your sendings. You can request a review of your campaign from us.

Volumes

Whatever you limit, we recommend you to stick to these volumes below:

Date

Number of contacts targeted (maximum)

D1

500

D2

1 000

D3

1 500

D4

2 500

D5

5 000

… +1

… x2

Therefore, it will takes 3 days to activate a database of 3 000 contacts, and 5 days for a database of 10 000 contacts.

Segmentation

Total number of contacts

Start by creating a segment with everyone who:

  • has a phone number
  • is an email opt-in
  • has made at least 2 purchases this year

Let's say that makes a segment of 5 000 people.

Segments division

The idea is to start with your best customers, those who are most interested by your communications.

Here is a simple method to divide the 5 000 people in segments, depending on the number of purchases made:

Date

Rule

Approx. volume

D1

purchases > 4 this year

500

D2

purchases = 4 this year

800

D3

purchases = 3 this year

1 200

D4

purchases = 2 this year

2 500

Sendings scheduling

Then you can schedule your campaign in 4 sendings, on 4 segments and on 4 different days.

If you get a warning from Meta, cancel the sendings and contact Simio to adjust the strategy.
